MLA Hamburg Steak

A creative alternative to a classic hamburger. This hamburg steak is easy to prepare from home, with Australia's fine ground beef as the main ingredient.


300g Ground Beef
100g Onion, finely diced
30g Garlic, minced
1 tbsp Butter
½ tsp Pepper
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
½ tsp Ground Nutmeg
1 Egg 


For the sauce:

½ cup Dry Red Wine
1/3 cup Ketchup
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce


  • Sautee onion and garlic in butter until caramelized.
  • Knead all the ingredients into the ground beef.
  • Shape in to a patty and Pan-fry in medium-low heat for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • Add all the sauce ingredients in the same pan you used for the steak and stir briskly to emulsify the sauce.
  • Serve with sauce and steamed vegetables
